Time Excess and Time Franchise

Time Excess
This means there will be no payment for loss of income during the initial period of time which may range from 12 to 14 days. Regardless of how the interruption lasts. The insured may also agree for a longer time excess in return for a discount in premium.
Time Franchise
A time franchise provides that the business interruption cover will only apply once interruption exceeds a certain period of time which may range from 30 minutes to 24 hours. Once the time is exceeded, the full amount will be paid.
