What are the duties of the insurance company in the event of a claim?

Once a claim has been reported, the insurer will confirm the following:

 Existence and scope of the cover at the time of loss
 Whether the claimant is the person insured or a third party
 Whether premium has been paid or not
 Whether there is any breach of policy conditions or material facts. An
insurer may repudiate a claim based on this
 Whether an authorised driver was driving the vehicle.
 Whether the vehicle was used for the purpose it is insured.
